Jesus’ instructions to his disciples in Matthew 28, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you,” (Mat 28:19) forms the basis of the mission statement of Abundand Blessings. At Aldersgate, their mission is to reach out with the love of Christ, teach His word and transform the world by releasing devoted disciples into ministry.
The vision of Abundant Blessings is not to be the biggest church on the block or to have the highest steeple. They work to love people the way Jesus loves, spreading light, truth, and grace in all of their words and deeds. They do this by meeting and ministering to people where they are and helping them grow in a relationship with Jesus to become fully devoted disciples.
Southwest Missouri has the highest rate of child abuse and neglect in the state, and one of the highest rates in the nation. Christian and Greene counties currently have more than 1000 children in foster care. This sad fact offers an opportunity for the love and healing the Church offers to enter and impact these young lives. Abundant Blessings ministers to foster and adoptive children in our church and community in a variety of ways. They also operate the Abundant Blessings Closet for foster children.
