TREEmendous TREEcycling Trade-off

In conjunction with Earth and Arbor Day, exchange your used clothing for a Redbud or Bald Cypress tree compliments of the Missouri Department of Conservation.

The event will be held at Second Baptist Church, 3111 E. Battlefield, Springfield, MO 65804. All types of clothing, shoes and accessories like handbags, hats and belts are accepted. So clean out your closets for a great cause and enjoy a beautiful tree!

Nationally recognized gourd artist will be there to show their work and selling their art. We always have a lot of entries in our competition that will be displayed for your viewing. Our classes range from Youth, Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and Master's level. Multiple vendor's will be there selling finished gourds, gourd supplies, and dried gourds. At noon on Sat we will have a live auction. Be sure and take the kids by the kids corner for face painting and games.

Nixa Sucker Day

Nixa's annual celebration, Sucker Day, is just around the corner, Saturday, May 17, 2014 (parade at 6:30 p.m. the night before - May 16, 2014 on Main Street). This event has taken place for over 50 years, and we are certainly excited about our city-wide fish fry of Sucker Fish "grabbed" in area rivers/lakes.  Booths open at 9 a.m. as well as many other activities:  Kids' games, talent competition, Little Miss Sucker Day pageant, GREAT entertainment, and best of all - GREAT FOOD!!!!  Check out our website -

"Start of Summer" picnic and Gospel Concert

Immanuel Lutheran Church invites you and your family to join us and kick off the summer with fun and games, a BBQ and a Gospel concert. 

Our "Start of Summer" picnic and Gospel concert will be on Saturday June 7; games begin at 3:00pm, BBQ begins at 5:00pm and the Gospel concert at 7:00pm with The Haining Family, a front porch family style music and an award winning yodeler.

Horseshoes, sand volleyball, kids games, hotdogs, hamburgers, ice cream and all of the fix'ns.  Concert will be indoors.  Please bring your lawn chairs/blankets to watch the games. The Logan/Rogersville fire truck and inflatable safe house, along with Mercy Hospital safety services personnel and vehicles (if not called out for emergency) will be there at 3:00pm for the kids, and young at heart, to view.

Please join us for a free day of fun, food and entertainment.

Walk To Defeat ALS

The Walk to Defeat ALS is The ALS Association's national fundraising program to raise money and awareness for ALS. This fun family-friendly event is a great way for companies to promote teamwork and build employee morale and for families to come together while raising money for a great cause through online fundraising and at-work activities. The Springfield Walk will be held at Jordan Valley Park with registration at 9 am and the walk at 10 am. The Walk will feature a D.J., games, food and fun for all ages!
